Small region. Indigenous grape varieties. Great wines for enthusiasts. Just like this Arveglio, Pigato Riviera Ligure di Ponente DOC, signed Poggio dei Gorleri. It comes from the sunny hills of Santo Stefano al Mare, with its mild climate and mineral-rich soil. This is an ideal terroir for Pigato, a local native grape, which finds its maximum expression here. With its compact bunches and golden grapes, it is a noble grape variety that has recently been enhanced thanks to the work of far-sighted wineries. The grapes, harvested by hand at the right degree of ripeness, are vinified with care. A gentle pressing precedes fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature. It then matures for 10 months in steel and another 10 months in the bottle, acquiring elegance and complexity. As soon as it is poured into the glass, one is captivated by its golden yellow colour. The nose amazes with the breadth of its fruity and floral aromas. In the mouth it is dry, savoury and mineral, where the residual sweetness is well balanced by the acidity, giving the wine a balanced and persistent sip. The finish is long and mineral. It goes well with cold meats and fresh cheeses, grilled vegetables and fish dishes. Also excellent as an aperitif.
