Imbottigliato all'origine da Travaglini - Via delle Vigne 36 -13045 Gattinara (VC)
Gattinara DOCG Tre Vigne di Travaglini is a wine that, as the name suggests, is the result of the union of three vineyards, all located in the unique territory of Gattinara, in the Upper Piedmont, at the foot of Monte Rosa. Gattinara, a small village nestled in the picturesque landscape of the Piedmont hills, enjoys an ideal microclimate for viticulture. The vineyards are situated at different altitudes, exposed from south-east to south-west, protected by the Alpine chain that acts as a natural barrier against the cold northern currents. The soil, of ancient volcanic origin, is rich in iron, magnesium and other minerals. Gattinara DOCG Tre Vigne is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, an indigenous variety and symbol of Piedmont. Nebbiolo cultivated on the volcanic soils of Gattinara develops unique characteristics: elegance, well-defined tannins and a structure that guarantees longevity. Depending on the plot of origin, each bunch expresses different nuances. The vinification of Tre Vigne follows a careful and rigorous process. After the grapes are harvested by hand, they are fermented in temperature-controlled steel tanks to preserve the aromatic notes. Subsequently, the wine is aged in oak barrels of different sizes for a period ranging from 36 to 48 months. This long refinement allows the Gattinara Tre Vigne to develop complexity and depth, making it suitable for long years of ageing. Visually, the Gattinara DOCG Tre Vigne presents itself with a fascinating garnet colour. The nose opens with intense balsamic notes of cloves, liquorice and cinchona, accompanied by iron mineral hints typical of the volcanic soil. These are joined by fruity aromas of cherry and strawberry, with delicate vegetal nuances. In the mouth it is distinguished by its elegance and finesse, with a freshness well balanced by silky tannins and a long mineral persistence. This wine goes well with rich, structured dishes. It is ideal with red meats, game and roasts, but also goes well with mature cheeses. It is also an excellent choice with mushroom or truffle dishes.
The Travaglini winery, located in the heart of Gattinara, represents one of the most significant realities of Alto Piemonte. Its history began in the 1920s, when Clemente Travaglini, recognising the unique potential of this land, decided to start a small winery. His pioneering spirit and his passion for wine laid the foundations of a company that, generation after generation, has continued to grow and innovate, without ever losing its deep connection with the territory. In the 1950s, with the arrival of Giancarlo Travaglini, the company took a decisive step towards modernisation, thanks to new methods of cultivation and vinification. And it was he who, in 1958, designed and patented the famous ‘crooked bottle’, the distinctive symbol of Travaglini and of Gattinara in the world. Today the company is run by the fourth and fifth generation of the family, with Cinzia Travaglini and her husband Massimo Collauto, joined by their daughters Alessia and Carolina.
