Produced in Italy
Barbaresco DOCG della Tradizione is made from grapes grown in the winery's vineyards on hills with good slopes. Here the soils are predominantly calcareous and clayey, guaranteeing a broad and immediate expression of the bouquet. After vinification, which is superbly accurate as is the winery's style, traditional Slavonian and French oak barrels are used for the delicate ageing phase. Here the wine rests for no less than a year and is then blended in a classic large Slavonian oak barrel. Then, after bottling, the wine completes its long refinement in the bottle before being put on the market. This Barbaresco reaches maturity about 3 years after the harvest. But it is a wine that can age, well, for many years. Provided, of course, that it is stored properly in the cellar, protected from any shock and at the right temperature. Garnet red in colour, it has intense and persistent aromas, with clear hints of fruit, rose petals and spices. In the mouth it is full-bodied, but also harmonious and well-balanced. The tannins, very fine and ripe, are not at all intrusive.
Barolo, the extraordinary wine that the whole world envies us, was born just a few metres from the company headquarters. The historic cellars of Marchesi di Barolo are in fact located in the centre of Barolo, just a few steps away from the castle that was the home of the last Marchesi Falletti, the first ever to produce the noble red wine of kings. The Abbona family, the current owners of Marchesi di Barolo, ideally continue the work begun by the Fallettis, placing themselves as faithful interpreters of the traditional vines and their places. Never as in this case the saying "combining tradition and innovation" applies. The company works with the main vines of the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato, vinifying the most prestigious crus in purity, refining them and proposing them individually, to better exalt their different expressions. Knowledge of and respect for the different grape varieties and individual terroirs, combined with a vinification process that enhances their strengths. All this is Marchesi di Barolo.
