"Musica" Pinot Nero Emilia IGT 2022
  • Elegant and refined Pinot Noir, made in Emilia Romagna. We are talking about Musica, Emilia IGT, proposed here by Torre Fornello. The name ‘Musica’ suggests a symphony of flavours and aromas that intertwine harmoniously. Just like a well-orchestrated musical composition. Produced in Ziano Piacentino, in the heart of the Emilian hills, this wine originates in an area particularly suited to viticulture. The vineyards extend over hilly terrain characterised by clay and limestone soils, with a climate that benefits from wide temperature ranges between day and night. An organic regime is adopted in the countryside, to preserve biodiversity and the natural balance of the environment. Pinot Noir is certainly not a grape variety that needs an introduction. A grape of French origin of great prestige, Pinot Noir is known for its difficulty in cultivation. Used in purity, it succeeds here in expressing all its elegance and complexity. For this wine, Torre Fornello chooses only the ripest bunches, harvested by hand, guaranteeing impeccable quality. After the harvest, vinification involves fermentation at a controlled temperature and ageing for 6 months, half in wood and half in steel. This balanced ageing allows Pinot Noir Musica to develop a complex, yet fresh and refined aromatic profile. In the glass Musica is a beautiful intense ruby red colour. The nose is rich and varied, dominated by fruity notes of cherry and red fruits, accompanied by spicy nuances reminiscent of pepper and vanilla. In the mouth it is a round and full wine, with an elegant structure and good balance. It goes well with savoury and rich dishes. Try it with bean soup, with pork, especially Mora Romagnola, semi-mature cheeses and cured meats.

Torre Fornello is a beautiful winery located in the heart of the Piacenza hills. Its history dates back to 1028, when Deacon Gerardo bequeathed some land to a Piacenza noblewoman. In the following centuries, a lime and brick kiln was built in the area, hence the name ‘Fornello’, as was the tower erected in the 15th century to defend the feud. Recent history, on the other hand, began in 1998 with Enrico Sgorbati who started the production of high quality wines at Torre Fornello. The vineyards, which are exclusively owned, are cultivated with varieties that reflect the richness of the local viticulture. In particular with Barbera, Bonarda and Croatina, typical of the Piacenza area, which produce robust and intense red wines. However, there is also no lack of white grape varieties such as Ortrugo, an indigenous grape appreciated for its freshness and versatility. The winery is characterised by modern and technologically advanced spaces, although the wines are then aged in the historic cellars dating back to the 14th and 15th centuries, where temperature and humidity remain constant throughout the year.
