CHARACTERISTICS
  • TypeVino Champagne
  • Location France
  • Grapes Pinot Noir 50%, Chardonnay 50%
  • Sensations The pale yellow bubbly appearance with silver accents indicates the high proportion of Chardonnay. Delicate effervescence gives rise to a creamy and persistent perlage. Subtle and fresh on the nose. The initial mineral scent quickly turns herbaceous, with a combination of elderflower and spicy cinnamon notes. In the mouth, it is sharp and vibrant, dominated by citrus notes. It then develops its fullness, becoming round and silky and revealing aroma of white peach in syrup. The conclusion is long, rich and explosive. Cuvee Prélude Grand Cru can be enjoyed as an aperitif and is a perfect accompaniment to classic fish dishes.
  • Vinification Careful selection of the best Grand Cru Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, from first pressing only, and a 5-year aging period in the cellar give this champagne a perfect balance of tension and aromatic strength. Taittinger's cuvee Prélude Grands Crus is made from a blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir selected by Taittinger from Grand Cru vineyards rated 100% on the Champagne scale. This composition oscillates between the vibrant minerality of Chardonnay and the aromatic intensity of Pinot Noir. Aged for more than 5 years in the cellars, Prélude retains a remarkable freshness, the result of a combination of refinement and complexity.

    Champagne Taittinger Prélude
  • Taittinger Prélude is a very interesting Champagne. Produced by the famous house in Reims from a careful selection of the best Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, sourced from villages classified as Grand Cru and with a 5-year aging period in the cellar. A Champagne of great balance, the equal blending of the two grape varieties simultaneously ensures the vibrant minerality of Chardonnay and the aromatic intensity of Pinot Noir. In addition, despite its long bottle aging, Prélude retains a remarkable freshness and the perfect mix of refinement and complexity. In the glass, it is a beautiful pale yellow color with silver accents. The effervescence is delicate and elegant, resulting in a creamy and persistent perlage. The nose is subtle and fresh, with an initial mineral hint that quickly turns herbaceous, amid elderflower and spicy notes. In the mouth, it is sharp and vibrant, dominated by citrus notes. Then it becomes round and silky, revealing notes of white peach syrup. The finish is long, rich and explosive. Prélude is perfect as an aperitif but also proves a perfect accompaniment for classic seafood dishes. Try it with a tasty fry of small fish or with a poor fish grill.

The Taittinger brand does not have a 100-year history. But despite this, it is now considered one of the most famous and important Maisons in all of Champagne. It came into being in 1932 with its acquisition by Pierre Taittinger, an enthusiast of gastronomy and bubbly, who became aware of the estate while serving the French army as a first cavalry officer during the Great War. Today the Maison is run by the third generation of the Taittinger family, with Pierre-Emmanuel and his sons Clovis and Vitalie. La Maison is located near the city of Reims, on the ruins of the Saint-Nicaise de Reims Abbey. Among the Maison's special features are undoubtedly the historic underground cellars, built from gypsum quarries from the Gallo-Roman era. Here the wines have time to mature slowly in contact with their own yeasts. 288 hectares of total property, divided into 34 different crus where Chardonnay is the most significant variety, entering the blend of its most iconic label, the prized Comtes de Champagne. The judgment of experts is unanimous. With a label line that includes several limited editions, vintages and reserves, Maison Taittinger rightfully enters the elite of great Champagnes!
