Perticaia has been producing high quality wines for more than twenty years. And it does so in the territory of Montefalco, in Umbria, an area famous for the quality of its red wines, appreciated all over the world. In 2018, the Perticaia winery went through a handover with the exit of the founder and the entry of the new owner, a lover of wines of the highest quality. In the transition phase, the wines resting in the cellar were carefully evaluated, finding some decidedly interesting ones, stored for a long time to reach the right level of maturity. This resulted in a wine, with a mysterious trait, called Rofu, to all intents and purposes a sort of Private Collection. Matured in steel for 36 months, then passed in oak for 24 months and finally left to rest in the bottle for at least 6 months, ROFV presents itself in the glass with a beautiful ruby red colour tending to garnet. On the nose, intense aromas of red fruits, such as currants, enhanced by notes of pepper and chocolate. The mouth reveals a full and persistent wine, with important tannin and a fresh finish. A red characterised by an almost infinite evolutionary potential, the cellar experts are ready to bet that it will continue to evolve for at least 15 years, giving new satisfaction with every taste. A red wine with an intense flavour, it pairs well with noble and spicy cold cuts such as culatello and finocchiona. Excellent with mature cheeses and tasty first courses. Try it with the classic bucatini all'amatriciana.
Perticaia, in the archaic language of Umbria, is the word by which the plough was called, probably the tool that more than any other symbolises the transition from sheep farming to agriculture. We find ourselves among hillsides cultivated with vineyards and olive groves, dotted with towers, villages and medieval castles. Modern vineyards, as modern is the wine cellar, in perfect balance with the surrounding environment, taking care to maintain the appearance of the old farms in the area. Today, Perticaia boasts some fifty hectares of vineyards. Of these, more than ten are in Sagrantino. The land, all hilly, is set on a slight slope, at an altitude of between 320 and 350 metres above sea level, exposed mainly to the south, south-west. Perticaia is an organic estate, a model for the territory, and capable of producing wines of great expressiveness and elegance.
