"Tegeo" Pecorino Abruzzo Superiore DOC 2022
    • Tegeo is a Pecorino d'Abruzzo DOC, Superiore. It is offered here by Nododivino, a fine winery based in Ortona, in the province of Chieti. Here the beautiful hills sloping down to the sea are characterised by medium-textured soil with the presence of sand and underlying layers of clay. The Nododivino vineyards, specifically, are located at an altitude of about 50 metres above sea level, with a south-westerly exposure. Here, thanks to the traditional Abruzzese pergola and a favourable microclimate, the grapes are able to ripen optimally, bringing out their best characteristics. Pecorino, a white grape variety mainly found in the Marche and Abruzzo regions, is known for its ability to produce wines with a floral and fruity character. Its origins are ancient and, over the centuries, it has shown a remarkable adaptability to the different terroirs of Abruzzo, expressing the characteristics of the territory wherever it is grown. The vinification of Tegeo begins with the manual harvesting of the grapes. The must obtained is left in tanks at a controlled temperature for 72 hours, allowing for natural clarification. Subsequently, part of the fermenting must is transferred to second passage barriques, where it completes alcoholic fermentation. At the end of fermentation, the wine remains in contact with the noble lees for about 6 months, during which it undergoes periodic bâtonnage. In the Tegeo glass it has a straw yellow colour with golden reflections. The bouquet is balanced with sweet notes of spices on a background of ripe fruit, such as yellow peach, mango and white plum pulp, accompanied by delicate hints of jasmine. In the mouth it is appreciated for its balanced flavour, good structure and pleasant persistence. Tegeo goes well with fish dishes, such as seafood crudités and seafood risottos, and with white meats cooked in a delicate way.

The name is a nice play on words. But Nododivino is above all an interesting winery located in Ortona, on the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo. A company that stands out for its dedication to producing high quality wines that reflect the rich winemaking tradition of the region. The area is characterised by a combination of rolling hills and coastline, offering a microclimate ideal for viticulture. The sea breezes help keep the vines healthy, while the calcareous-clay soil nourishes the plants, giving the local wines a distinct minerality. Nododivino makes the most of these conditions, cultivating native vines such as Montepulciano and Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, using sustainable agricultural practices that respect the environment and enhance local biodiversity.
