Altamira is one of the main winegrowing regions in the southern Uco Valley. We are located in the province of Mendoza, Argentina. The Uco Valley, in particular, is famous for its high altitude, with vineyards planted on soils that are perfect for growing high quality grapes. The vines in this area benefit from a large temperature range between day and night, which contributes to the slow and complete ripening of the grapes, while preserving their freshness and acidity. Among the most common varieties grown in Altamira is undoubtedly Malbec, which is the predominant variety in the entire Mendoza region. And it is precisely from a pure processing of Malbec that Bodega Manos Negras obtains this Stone Soil. In this case, the grapes come from vineyards located as high as 4000 metres, on stony soils rich in calcium carbonate. These soils, very poor in organic matter and very rich in minerals, allow the winery to naturally lower yields and focus on quality. This is why the Malbec of Manos Negras can be considered as the natural expression of these rocky soils. A wine of good character and great personality, it is already good today but does not disdain waiting some time in the cellar. It can be uncorked at a nice all-meat dinner. Fantastic with grilled sausages and mature cheeses.
Four professionals, Jeff Mausbach, Alejandro Sejanovich, Professor Jason Mabbett and Duncan Killiner, considered to be among the leading wine experts in South America, united by an ambitious project. Thus was born the Manos Negras winery. Let's start with the curious name, which derives from the firm conviction that true oenologists are those who roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty. And so the Manos Negras project, although based on profound knowledge and important skills, wants to propose artisanal labels. Real wines, expressive of the lands where they were born, and generous in offering themselves in every way. They range from Argentinean productions, with Pinot Noir, but above all Malbec and Torrontés, to arrive, across the border, in Chile, for Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and above all Carménère. Always prudent agronomic choices, respectful of the environment and biodiversity. The result? Simply excellent!
