"Aurie" Petit Manseng Mitterberg IGT 2022
  • Aurie is a refined Petit Manseng in purity, IGT wine, from Kellerei St. Pauls. A sweet wine with a unique and fascinating character, perfect for those seeking a simply unforgettable experience. Aurie comes from sunny vineyards located between 350 and 400 metres above sea level. We are located in São Paulo, an area in Alto Adige characterised by calcareous-sandy soils, which give the grapes an extraordinary minerality. The Alpine climate, with its cool autumn breezes and significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, allows the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. Petit Manseng, a rare and precious grape variety, is known for its ability to produce sweet wines of great aromatic intensity and complexity. In this case, the vines are about 10 years old and produce small, concentrated bunches that are harvested only in late autumn. This allows the grapes to reach a slight over-ripeness, enriching themselves with sugars and developing their characteristic aromas. In the cellar, fermentation is then slow, at a controlled temperature in steel tanks. This is stopped naturally by cooling to preserve a perfect balance between sweetness and acidity. Subsequently, the wine matures on the fine lees, acquiring a fine structure and great aromatic complexity. In the goblet, Aurie has a beautiful intense golden colour. On the nose, the bouquet is broad and complex, with notes of quince, honey, dried apricots and mango. In the mouth, a soft and velvety texture envelops the senses. While the finish is long and persistent, with a pleasant sensation of freshness that invites one to take another sip.

At St. Pauls, it is clearly stated on the home page of their website, the preservation of the land is not just a job but a real mission. But that is not all. It also reads 'We share the joy of living. For generations, for generations'. What more is there to add? When the joy of living and respect for nature are placed at the centre of everything, good results are never lacking. Kellerei St. Pauls is also an example of good South Tyrolean cooperation. Founded in 1907, it currently unites around 200 members who work their vineyards with passion, often by hand, and deliver their best grapes to the cellar. In total, the vineyards belonging to St. Pauls comprise about 185 hectares, spread over the most suitable areas of the valley surrounding the village of St. Pauls/Appiano. Over one and a half million bottles are produced each year, which reach the markets of the world from South Tyrol, to the delight of many wine lovers. The production consists mainly of white, dry and aromatic wines.
