Botrys is a very special wine. A sweet nectar that comes from the same territory as Tuscany's best loved red wine, the town of Montalcino. It is, in fact, a Moscadello di Montalcino DOC, Vendemmia Tardiva. A Tuscan passito that comes from the processing of Moscato, Malvasia di Candia and Sauvignon Blanc grapes, harvested beyond their time and partially affected by noble rot that gives them unique and unforgettable aromatic nuances. A wine as precious as it is rare that matures for no less than 24 months in tonneaux, before meeting the bottle where it refines for another year before being put on the market. Brilliant and intense gold in colour, the nose is astonishing for its wide range of aromas and sensations that chase each other relentlessly. It starts with a light attack of Muscat, with apricot jam and ends with intriguing notes of honey. In the mouth, then, it is an explosion of syrupy and candied fruit. From peach to apricot, from pineapple to fig. A perfect wine when you want to gratify yourself with a sweet finish. Perfect with pâté, simple desserts and fresh cheeses.
Azienda Agricola Mastrojanni is located in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, at the southern end of the municipality of Montalcino, in the province of Siena. The home of Brunello, an artistic and architectural heritage immersed in the splendour of a nature with a high wine vocation. Founded in 1975, well before Montalcino was what we all know today, today the winery covers 109 hectares, 40 of which are planted with vines, 17 of which are Brunello. The vineyards are between 8 and 41 years old, with altitudes ranging from 190 metres to 410 metres above sea level. Vineyards face south-east, with dense plantings, designed to obtain the highest quality. Moreover, despite the fact that the Brunello DOCG regulations impose a limit of 80 quintals per hectare, yields on the estate never exceed 50 quintals. Sangiovese, as it should be, is the absolute protagonist of Mastrojanni wines, declined in different labels. With him Cabernet Sauvignon Moscato, Malvasia di Candia and Sauvignon Blanc.
