Boysenberry crumble, black raspberries, licorice, treacle tart, forest floor and iron shavings are out in style. There’s pretty crunchiness to the acidity and the tannins have a chalky, spicy feel. Medium-to full-bodied and refined. Drink from 2021.

This red offers aromas of baked plum, exotic spice, blue flower and new leather. The tight palate reflects the nose, featuring additional tones of dried black cherry, licorice and tobacco alongside firm, fine-grained tannins. Drink 2022–2027. KERIN O’KEEFE

      Brunello di Montalcino DOCG
    • it's always a pleasure to uncork a Brunello. When it tastes this good, it's even better! Powerful and complex aromas, notes of fruit in alcohol that are typical of this vintage; on the palate it is round and balanced. Majestic, elegant, a must-have!

After the wonderful 2012 vintage, we discover the new Brunello 2015 from Villa Poggio Salvi. Villa Poggio Salvi's Brunello is of the highest caliber, one that will be hard to forget... and in case you need it, a few forgotten bottles in the cellar will be the best reminder! Pierluigi Tagliabue was one of the pioneers who decided to focus on the Montalcino territory when it was not yet so fashionable. Over the years, he has transformed Villa Poggio Salvi into one of the most solid realities in the area: 20 hectares of vineyards cultivated with Sangiovese Grosso, used to produce Rosso di Montalcino DOC, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Annata and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Riserva. To complete the picture half a hectare of white muscat for the production of Moscadell' di Montalcino DOC, a small historical gem of the area. In 2007 Pierluigi handed control over to his nephew, oenologist Luca Belingardi, who is now at the helm of the company. Approximately 250,000 bottles are produced each year.
