"Quelli del Geografico", as the sixty Tuscan winemakers who run the historic winery are often called, have built their success on the typicality of the wines they offer, based on the region's main grape variety, Sangiovese. This Contessa di Radda, Chianti Classico DOCG, is a fine example. It comes from a blend of 95% Sangiovese, with a small addition of Merlot. Harvesting of the grapes, which come from hilly vineyards in the classic area, begins end of September/beginning of October. The grapes were vinified separately with a maceration of about 14 days. After fermentation and racking, the wine goes into cement vats for malolactic fermentation, and from there into the bottle. The result is a decidedly traditional red, with a floral and fruity nose where the fresh notes of cherry and raspberry stand out clearly. on the palate it is fresh and enjoyable. Elegant and spicy, it has a soft and bright finish.
