"Nieddera" Rosato Valle del Tirso IGT 2023
  • One of the most beautiful things about Sardinia (apart from the climate, the sea and the cuisine) is undoubtedly the great wealth of native or autochthonous vines. Among these is the Nieddera, used, when blended with other red grapes from the Sinis peninsula, to produce this fascinating rosé from Cantina Contini. A short maceration of 12/24 hours is sufficient for the wine to acquire its intense colour, with violet reflections. A rosé that for the richness and depth of its bouquet could easily be a red as well. The nose is intense and attractive. In the mouth it is soft and fresh. Lively and well balanced. A fine wine for the whole meal, perfect with fish but also with meat.

There are many small Italian wineries that have grown and developed over the years thanks to the passion handed down from father to son. Among these, a place of honour goes to the Sardinian Contini, founded in 1898 and since then jealously guarded by members of the historic Oristano family. First Salvatore, then Attilio, today Paolo and grandsons Alessandro and Mauro. Four generations. For over a century, the Contini name has been identified with Vernaccia di Oristano. Over the years, Vernaccia has been joined by other important productions, such as Nieddera, Vermentino and Cannonau. Today the Company is a solid regional reality, able to sell its good products in many different markets. But it is on the island, a few kilometres from the sea, that Contini's heart continues to beat. And all you have to do to understand that is to uncork any of their bottles. They have Sardinia in them!
