Château La Lagune Grand Cru Classé Haut Medoc 2019
  • Let us start with its composition: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. The typical Bordeaux blend, loved and imitated throughout the world, here masterfully interpreted by the talented oenologist Caroline Frey. In perfect Médoc style, the ripe grapes are harvested between the end of September and the beginning of October. Once in the cellar, the bunches are further selected before being transferred, by gravity, to stainless steel vats where the fermentation phase takes place and, after racking, the malolactic fermentation takes place. Finally, at the end of the rigorous vinification process, the wines are left to mature at length in oak barrels, again in perfect traditional style. The final blending is done during maturation before bottling. Ruby red with garnet hues, the nose offers dark, black fruit notes such as currants, chocolate and tobacco. In the mouth, however, it is pleasantly full-bodied, with tannins in clear evidence but fine and polished. Long and intense, it is a wine with an excellent structure, made from organically grown grapes. Good, therefore, but also environmentally sustainable. All the more reason not to miss it.

We are right on the prestigious Route des Châteaux that runs the length and breadth of the Médoc. We are of course in Bordeaux, and to be precise on the so-called 'rive gauche'. Here we find Château La Lagune, one of the best references of the Haut-Médoc appellation. This estate was classified 3rd Grand Cru classé in 1855. An estate with a "pink" heart and brain, thanks to the young and talented oenologist Caroline Frey, who has been competently managing the estate since 2004. The Château is located on a terrace overlooking the Garonne. 80 hectares of vines, planted on soils of light gravel and silica.
