Il Chianti secondo Piccini, Piccini 1882

Chianti in the eyes of Piccini

The history of the Piccini family is closely linked to that of Chianti, so much so that they call themselves "the Italian wine family". And you can't blame them, because today Mario Piccini, representative of the fourth generation of the family, runs the traditional company. A huge enterprise that revolves around the work of seven wineries in Tuscany and beyond, but has its origins in a small plot of just seven hectares in Poggibonsi. That's why when you drink a Chianti DOCG like this, you feel like you're drinking history. The base is Sangiovese, of course, with an addition of Ciliegiolo and Canaiolo: a soft and structured wine that goes perfectly with a classic platter of salami and medium aged cheeses. Here are six of them, in case you have an insatiable craving for red wine. But of the good, of the tradition that insistently calls for the second glass.

    Good Chianti from Piccini

The history of the Piccini family is closely linked to that of Chianti. What today is a large company was just a small vineyard in the heart of the appellation at the end of the 19th century. That is why it is always a pleasure to taste a Chianti DOCG, like this one, the result of a historic family’s experience.. Specifically, it is a blend of clearly predominate Sangiovese, with a part of Ciliegiolo and Canaiolo, both at 5%. Only the best bunches are selected and sent for the vinification process, which involves the use of temperature-controlled stainless steel containers. This is followed by a long maceration on the skins, to extract all the colour and aromas, during which frequent pumping over is carried out, to obtain a more delicate and elegant taste. In the glass, Chianti Piccini, characterized by its unmistakable label, has a beautiful intense ruby red colour, with intense and persistent aromas of ripe red fruit. In the mouth it reveals itself as a well-structured and smooth wine. With soft tannins and distinct hints of red fruit.
