When we think of Uruguay, instinctively, our minds lead us to imagine great red wines. And among these, the most typical are those produced from Tannat grapes. A grape variety of ancient European origin, in fact, Tannat has found fertile soils suited to its characteristics in the heart of South America. A fine example of this is this Reserva proposed by Bodega Garzón, which comes from slow processing in the winery, with almost a year of resting on its own lees, in 50-hectoliter French oak barrels. This reveals a red wine with great personality, characterized by a beautiful, deep color. The nose gives fresh sensations of red and black berry fruits, such as plums, raspberries and blackberries. Then spices, woodiness, coffee and chocolate. In the mouth it reveals nice tannin and remarkable freshness. A full-bodied red, it is almost a must-have choice when meat-based main courses come to the table. Excellent with the classic leg of lamb cooked long in the oven.
