The definition Blanc de Blancs leaves no doubt. This Champagne from Maison Lancelot-Pienne is made from 100% white grapes. Which means, in Champagne, that the base cuvée is produced from Chardonnay grapes. Perfectly ripe bunches, for the region, that come from the southern slope of the Épernay hill. La Dame du Lac, this is the commercial name of this wine, is a Brut Champagne and indeed a beautiful example of the aromatic richness of this international grape variety. Fresh and mineral, elegant and complex. In the glass, it has a beautiful bright straw yellow colour, made even brighter by the presence of countless very fine bubbles that rise neatly from the bottom of the glass towards the surface. The nose is pleasantly fine, with hints of fresh fruit, floral notes and hints of citrus. In the mouth, however, it is above all fresh and savoury. Delicately fruity and endowed with great persistence. This is the Champagne to uncork at a nice dinner with friends. Excellent with hors d'oeuvres and fish starters. Good with raw fish and shellfish.
