Lamiable, Tours-sur-Marne (Montagne de Reims)
A historic cuvée of the Maison Lamiable, this elegant Champagne perfectly represents the refined style of the Maison. 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, this bubbly only reaches its proper maturity after having rested for a long time in contact with its yeasts, giving intense, rich and ripe aromas. Terre d'Etoiles, this is its commercial name, is made from grapes sourced exclusively from the famous Grand Cru of Bouzy and Tours-sur-Marne. The cuvée is also composed of 40% reserve wines from previous vintages. It is matured on the lees for approximately 30 months. In the glass it has a beautiful straw-yellow colour with golden highlights. The nose is appreciated for the delicacy of its aromas, with pleasant hints of small red fruits alternating with quince. In the mouth, it is soft and enveloping, balanced and drinkable. A Champagne that can easily be uncorked on more than one occasion. Perfect as an aperitif, it goes well with first and second courses based on fish, even savoury ones.
The first traces of the Lamiable family in the Tours-sur-Marne area date back to the 18th century. The current estate, however, was only founded in 1859 by Louis-Hippolyte. And the real breakthrough came only after the Second World War, when, in the early 1950s, Pierre Lamiable planted the first vines and thus founded the company. At the same time, with the help of his brother Auguste, the underground cellars were literally dug with an ice axe. The beginning of the marketing of Champagne only began in 1970. Today, the Maison Lamiable property extends over about 6 hectares, all within the Montagne de Reims region. In the countryside, Pinot Noir dominates, with 30% Chardonnay. The vineyards are managed in a sustainable manner, with 'Viticulture Durable e Haute Valeur Environnementale' certified agriculture, i.e. with agronomic principles with a low environmental impact.
