    CHARACTERISTICS
    • TypeVino rosso fermo
    • Location Piedmont
    • Grapes Nebbiolo 100%
    • Sensations Ruby red colour with reflections tending towards garnet. The bouquet is ample, complex, fine, with spicy notes in evidence, dried flowers, vanilla. The taste is soft, warm, persuasive, rightly tannic, persistent
    • Vinification Careful selection in the vineyard of perfectly healthy and well ripened bunches; harvested by hand into 20 kg perforated boxes. The grapes are delicately destemmed, crushed and placed in steel vats where fermentation takes place at a temperature of 25-26°C. Maceration on the skins lasts about twenty days with the cap submerged. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is racked into 50% new and 50% second-passage oak tonneaux for a period ranging from 18 to 22 months (depending on the vintage), during which time malolactic fermentation also takes place. At the end of maturation, the wine is bottled without clarification or filtration. This is followed by bottle ageing for at least 6 months before release.

      Canavese Nebbiolo DOC 2021
    • Nebbiolo. But not the one from the Langhe. The one cultivated in the heart of Canavese, giving life to a red wine of great elegance and complexity, like this Nebbiolo 'DOC' proposed by Azienda Agricola La Masera. In this case, the grapes ripen on sandy and calcareous soil, typical for the area, in a cool and ventilated climate. This creates the ideal habitat for the ripening of grapes rich in aroma and structure. The beneficial temperature fluctuations between day and night, then, favour the concentration of polyphenols and an elegant tannicity. The grapes, carefully selected in the vineyard, are harvested by hand at the moment of perfect ripeness. Fermentation, in temperature-controlled stainless steel, preserves the freshness and primary aromas of the variety. This is followed by ageing for 18 months in French oak barrels, which gives the wine complexity, elegance and harmony. Ruby red in colour, with garnet reflections, on the nose typical scents of small red fruits, dog rose, sweet spices, vanilla and liquorice. In the mouth, however, this Nebbiolo by La Masera is soft, warm and pleasantly tannic. An elegant and balanced wine in all its components. The persistence is long, with a spicy finish that invites another sip. On the table it calls to mind red meat dishes such as braised meats, roasts and game. Also excellent with medium-aged cheeses.

La Masera: Winemakers by passion, among the hills of Canavese. This can be read on the home page of the company website of this beautiful Piedmontese winery. We are located in the heart of the Canavese, among the picturesque hills of the Ivrea Morainic Amphitheatre. The company was born in 2005, from the passion and friendship of Alessandro, Gian Carlo, Davide, Sergio and Marco. A shared dream of reviving the production of Erbaluce Passito, a historic wine inextricably linked to this territory. The choice of the name 'La Masera' encapsulates the essence of the company: a strong bond with the land and respect for its traditions. 'Masere', in fact, is the local term for the large dry-stone walls delimiting the fields, just like the one supporting the first vineyard purchased by the partners to start their Erbaluce production. Today the company can count on about 5.5 hectares of vineyards, located between the municipalities of Settimo Rottaro and Piverone, where Erbaluce finds its ideal terroir, expressing its unique characteristics at its best. The vineyards are located at an altitude between 350 and 500 metres above sea level. Here they enjoy a cool, breezy climate, with significant temperature swings between day and night, factors that contribute to the grapes' high acidity and extraordinary aromatic richness. La Masera boasts a production of around 27,000 bottles per year, divided between no less than 12 different types. These include Erbaluce Passito, the flagship wine of the company, produced in limited quantities and with very low yields to ensure maximum concentration.
