BEL COLLE VERDUNO Fraz. Castagni 56 – 12060 Verduno CN
Cantina Belcolle's Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC is an authentic expression of the Nebbiolo grape variety, cultivated in the best hills of the Roero, on the left bank of the Tanaro river. A red wine with great personality that stands out for its elegance and complexity. The origins of the name Nebbiolo, it seems, are linked to the word 'nebbia' (fog). A link that refers to the ideal location of the vineyards, situated above the fog line, where the grapes can benefit from a perfect microclimate for their ripening. The sandy soils of the Roero's 'bricchi', combined with the favourable exposure and temperate microclimate, give Belcolle's Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC excellent organoleptic qualities. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by 12 months of ageing in oak barrels, which gives the wine structure and complexity. A further refinement of 6 months in the bottle completes the maturation process and makes the wine ready to be tasted. On the nose, Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC Belcolle presents a broad and intense bouquet, characterised by floral notes of violets and roses, hints of ripe fruit such as cherries and plums, and delicate spices. With ageing, aromas of dried fruit, cocoa and liquorice develop. In the mouth it is soft and velvety, with elegant, well-integrated tannins. The structure is balanced and the aromatic persistence is long, with a mineral and lingering finish. It ideally accompanies first courses with meat sauces, main courses of red and white meat, medium and long matured cheeses.
A winery of excellence in the Langhe. We are talking about cantina Bel Colle, founded in the 1990s in Verduno, in the Langhe, thanks to the intuition of an enlightened oenologist, Paolo Torchio. Thanks to his far-sightedness, today the winery has become one of the most important realities in the area, with a focus on native grape varieties and a production philosophy that aims at elegance and finesse. Since 2015, the winery has been owned by the Bosio family, which has relaunched the purchase and arrangement of the vineyards, focusing on the highest quality expressions of the territory. Luca Bosio, the new generation of the family, represents the courage to take new paths and expand the vineyards. Mario Albrito, on the other hand, is the historical memory of the winery, a Langhe wine veteran with over 40 years of experience. Bel Colle is committed to sustainable viticulture and winemaking that respects differences. The parcelling out of the vineyards makes it possible to obtain labels that are increasingly representative of the link between the Langhe and its wines. Today, the winery can count on 10 hectares of vineyards between Verduno, the hills of the Langhe and the Asti region, which includes some of the most prestigious crus.
