It comes from the vineyards of the Bussia sub-zone in Monforte d'Alba. Here a particular terroir, and the good temperature range due to the altitude, favour the birth of wines characterised by particular fruity notes. Barolo Bussia DOCG by Giacosa Fratelli is the result of a non-invasive vinification process, which includes a long maceration of the skins and a long aging in oak barrels of 30 and 60 hectoliters. The result is a wine characterised by a beautiful ruby red colour which, with ageing, turns decisively towards garnet. The nose is ample and persistent. Floral, with hints of roses, and complex, recalling notes of leather and tar (tar). In the mouth it is dry and full-bodied. Harmonious and velvety. An excellent wine to serve when the menu includes mainly red meat dishes or with game. Also perfect in combination with medium-aged cheeses.
Cantina Giacosa fratelli: over 100 years of history. A long family history, made up of values handed down from father to son. We are in Neive, in the province of Cuneo. This is where it all began, with four brothers, Leone, Giovanni Battista, Costantino and Giuseppe, who settled there at the end of the 19th century to work as sharecroppers. Of the four, however, only Giuseppe cultivated the dream of having a winery in which to produce the wine from the hills where he was born. And on a day in June 1895, this dream could finally be realised. He learned that a wine cellar in Borgonuovo di Neive was for sale at the price of three thousand lire. A sum that he could never have afforded. Legend has it, however, that that night he had a dream and the next day he played the numbers suggested to him at Lotto while he was sleeping. It seems impossible. But with the winnings, he bought the winery. From generation to generation, it is always the family that manages the winery, with two clear reference elements: naturalness and quality, in every phase of transformation, from the vineyard to the cellar. Today Cantina Giacosa fratelli can count on about 50 hectares, divided into different areas.
