    Gewürztraminer Vin d'Alsace 2020
  • Domaine Allimant-Laugner is located in Orschwiller, in the heart of Alsace, a wine region with a centuries-old tradition. Alsace is characterised by a picturesque landscape, with vineyards stretching over rolling hills at the foot of the Vosges Mountains. The soils of Alsace, particularly those of Orschwiller, are of granitic origin, contributing to the distinctive minerality of the wines. This terroir, together with the semi-continental climate, with warm summers and cold winters, is ideal for the cultivation of Gewürztraminer, which is one of the region's flagship varieties. With its pink skin and intense floral and spicy notes, this grape variety gives wines that are an explosion of aromas. The grapes are harvested by hand in the last week of September to preserve natural freshness and acidity. After harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed to extract the juice without compromising the delicate aromas. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature to maintain the integrity of the natural aromas. Afterwards, the wine rests on the fine lees for a short period, which helps to develop more complexity and roundness. Brilliant straw yellow, the nose of this Gewürztraminer reveals a complex bouquet with floral notes, such as rose and jasmine, combined with spicy hints of white pepper and ginger. In the mouth, the wine is soft and enveloping, with a slightly oily texture and a minerality that lends freshness. Notes of exotic fruit, such as lychee and mango, blend harmoniously with hints of honey and citrus, creating a rich and intriguing flavour profile. Designed to be enjoyed young, within two years of the harvest, a slight evolution in the bottle can add further complexity to its aromatic bouquet.

In the heart of Alsace, precisely in Orschwiller, lies Domaine Allimant-Laugner, a winery that represents a true success story. Alsace is one of the most fascinating wine regions in France, located along the border with Germany. Characterised by a semi-continental climate, it enjoys warm summers and cold winters, ideal conditions for growing grapes. Orschwiller, the village that houses the Domaine, is situated at the foot of the majestic castle of Haut-Koenigsbourg, a location that lends a touch of magic and history to the surrounding vineyards. The Domaine Allimant-Laugner is distinguished by its production of absolutely pleasant, informal and highly price-competitive wines. Unlike many traditional Alsatian wines, often characterised by mineral opulence and robust structure, the Domaine's wines are designed to be pleasant and accessible. This production choice makes the Domaine wines ideal for everyday consumption, without sacrificing quality and gustatory pleasure.
