Casa Rojo likes to surprise its customers with unusual labels that stand out. This CL98, a DO, appellation wine from the Ribera del Duero region, is no exception. But, as fans of the Spanish house well know, with Casa Rojo the surprises are not limited to the exterior. In fact, the wines, too, are always at a high level. Expression of their territory and type. In this case it is a red made from a pure Tinto Fino, the local name for Tempranillo. Grapes from old vineyards located at an elevation of about 800 meters above sea level, in ideal conditions to reach perfect ripeness, combining power and elegance. In this case, the fermentation phase and the subsequent period of refinement in contact with the noble lees take place in concrete tanks, resulting in a red wine of great character, in which all the best characteristics of the starting grape are enhanced. Intense cherry red color with mauve undertones, the nose of this wine reveals a broad bouquet composed of red fruits and interesting hints of herbs such as thyme. In the mouth, then, its volume stands out, confirming all the red fruit we had previously perceived on the nose, with a roundness that is surprising for such a young wine. The finish is fresh and persistent, with well-integrated tannins and subtle balsamic acidity. Wine to be enjoyed with red meat dishes. With barbecue, for sure, but also with a good roast cooked slowly in the oven.
