Casa Rojo amazes. Always. And it does so with its fun and illustrated labels, but above all it does so with the unquestionable quality of its traditional Spanish wines. In this case with Tintafina we go to the prized Ribera del Duero DO. Here the reds, characterized by a strong Mediterranean character, are made from 100 percent Tempranillo grapes, often from old vines rooted in soils that are poor in substance and therefore capable of yielding clusters of beautiful concentration. Tintafina, in particular, matures for about a year in French oak barrels after vinification, gaining complexity and depth. A deep cherry-colored red with beautiful purplish reflections, this "caliente" tinto wine is capable of saturating the whole room when uncorked with its aroma. Aromas of berries, red fruits, vanilla and spices. All very powerful and intense. But at the same time also elegant. Same suggestions on the palate, where a pleasantly fruity, intense and juicy wine is revealed, with spicy notes on the finish. In Spain this is the right wine to serve with tapas. We might respond with a rich board of cold cuts and cheeses. But also with a beef stew or a mouth-watering grilled sausage.
