Bodegas Antonio Arraéz. Polígono 6 Parcela 386 Paraje de Ciscar, 46630, 46630, Valencia, Spain
La Jumilla, a Spanish DO, is located in Murcia, in the south-east of the country. This area is characterised by an arid and hot climate, with cold winters and torrid summers. Here, the main grape variety cultivated is Monastrell, which accounts for more than 80% of grape production. A variety perfectly adapted to the dry and hot climate of the region, capable of producing rich, tannic and intense wines with an aroma of dark fruit and spices. A fine example is this Vivir sin Dormir, which comes from grapes harvested in certified organic vineyards for over 30 years. We are at an altitude of around 650 metres. The slightly late harvest and a double selection of grapes, in the field and in the cellar, allow Bodegas Arráez to process only raw material of the highest quality. Intense red-purple in colour, it impresses on the nose with its aromas of pepper and hints of roasting. In the mouth, however, it is an enveloping wine, with a clear predominance of well-ripened red and black fruit. Powerful, well-structured and persistent. A wine with great personality, it perfectly accompanies Mediterranean cuisine.
It is definitely 'one big family', that of Bodegas Arráez. A great team, made up of many people, united by the same ideas and the same way of understanding wine. A close-knit group. The winery is located in Font de la Figuera and was built from three old cellars that belonged to private winegrowers. Over time, the winery has been renovated and adapted to incorporate new winemaking and bottling techniques. But this has not changed the original approach, faithful to the local winemaking tradition. The vineyards are located about 90 kilometres from the Mediterranean and at an altitude of between 600 and 800 metres, between two valleys whose orientation generates a Mediterranean-continental microclimate. This, together with naturally poor soils, creates unique conditions that are perfect for growing quality grapes. The winery owns 30 hectares of vineyards of predominantly local varieties. There are 40-year-old vines that are still bush-trained and new modern plantings using contemporary techniques.
