Bala Perdida, literally "lost bullet," is a 100% made-in-Spain red offered by Bodegas Arráez. Made from a pure vinification of Alicante Bouschet grapes from old vineyards with an average age of 35 years. Mature plants capable of producing a few clusters of great concentration that are rooted in poor, sandy, calcareous soils characteristic of inland Alicante. The grapes ripen in a hot climate with strong exposures and high temperatures, often suffering from a lack of water. These extreme conditions are decisive and characterize the wines made there. Gentle macerations are carried out in the cellar to extract fresh, varietal aromas that will form the basis for this wine, which is then matured in oak barrels to gain complexity and tertiary notes. The result, as its producers emphasize, is a rebellious, nonconformist wine that is impressive to the eye and palate.
