Germany
We are in one of the most fascinating corners of Europe, in the heart of Germany, where the Mosel River winds its way between steep hills covered with vineyards. It is here that the Riesling Kabinett Trocken Mosel Graacher Himmelreich is born. Bischöfliche Weingüter offers it. The Graacher Himmelreich, literally 'Kingdom of Heaven', is one of the most iconic vineyards in the Mosel. Lying on very steep south-facing slopes, it enjoys a perfect microclimate for growing Riesling. Its loose slate soils give the wine a distinctive minerality that enhances its finesse and freshness. Its vinification follows an artisanal process that respects the characteristics of the grapes as much as possible. Fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks, preserving the freshness and fruity aromas. The wine then rests for several months on fine lees, refining and acquiring complexity. The nose seduces with lively aromas of stone fruit and ripe citrus fruits. Peach, apricot, lime and grapefruit blend with mineral notes that lend depth and complexity. In the mouth, however, it is bright and lively, with a crisp acidity that enhances the lime and grapefruit flavours. The minerality typical for the Mosel region also makes itself felt, giving a long, lingering finish. The Riesling Kabinett Trocken Mosel Graacher Himmelreich is a white wine with great ageing potential. Over the years, its aromas evolve, developing notes of honey, beeswax and sweet spices. A wine that always gives new emotions, perfect for wine lovers who appreciate complexity and elegance.
In the heart of Germany's Mosel wine region, Bischöfliche Weingüter Trier is a winery with a centuries-old history. Formed from the union of three historic estates in 1966, Bischöfliches Konvikt, Bischöfliches Priesterseminar and Hohe Domkirche, the winery is today an icon of Moselle wines, renowned for their elegance, freshness and minerality. The estate covers 95 hectares of vineyards, located in some of the most vocational areas in the region, as well as in the Saar and Ruwer. The vineyards of Bischöfliche Weingüter Trier are mainly cultivated with Riesling, the main grape variety of the Mosel, which best expresses its characteristics of elegance and minerality here. Alongside Riesling, we also find Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, which contribute to enriching the winery's range of wines. More than 80% of the grapes are harvested by hand in steep, non-mechanisable vineyards. In the cellar, vinification takes place with the utmost care, using both stainless steel tanks and wooden barrels for ageing.
