"Korem" Bovale Isola Nuraghi IGT 2021
  • This Korem perfectly reflects the idea that every good enthusiast has of Sardinian reds. Wines of great intensity and concentration, perfect to accompany richly flavoured dishes. Isola dei Nuraghi IGT, this Korem is offered by Argiolas, a company that certainly needs no introduction. They produce it from grapes harvested on the Sa Tanca estate. Bunches of Bovale sardo, Carignano and Cannonau. Bovale, in particular, is a grape variety native to the Iberian peninsula, which arrived in Sardinia around 1300. The resulting wine is characterised by its richness in extract, alcohol and polyphenolic complexity. Sometimes still grown using the traditional Sardinian sapling system, it also lends itself well to slight over-ripening on the vine, to increase the concentration of aromas and sugar in the grapes. After the harvest, Argiolas carefully vinifies the three varieties, starting with a long maceration phase that can last up to two weeks. After fermentation, the wine is placed in vitrified cement vats where malolactic fermentation takes place. Finally, the wine is put into barriques, where it matures for about a year, before bottling and a further 6 months of ageing in glass. The result is a wine characterised by an intense red colour. The nose reveals intense and persistent aromas. In the mouth, however, it is above all velvety, warm and round. Well-balanced and harmonious, on the table it easily (and satisfactorily) accompanies savoury meat dishes. First courses with meat sauce, suckling pig on the spit and more generally grilled red meat. But also roast lamb, and mature Sardinian pecorino cheese.

Serdiana, in the countryside of Sibiola, Sisini, Sa Tanca, Vigne Vecchie and Is Solinas. These are the five estates, totalling over 200 hectares, that the Argiolas family owns in southern Sardinia. Plots chosen with care, for soil, exposure, climate and altitude. Each estate is different, as are the grapes that grow there and the wines that are created. The history of the Argiolas winery began in the late 1930s, when Antonio set up his new agricultural enterprise. Thanks to his commitment, for decades, the winery grew and established itself, in Sardinia and beyond. This has also been the case with the arrival of his children and, today, his grandchildren. The third generation of the family. Preserving and keeping intact the wonderful Sardinian nature is an important responsibility. A daily commitment that guides the actions of the Argiolas family, every day, in every decision.
