    "Critèra" Primitivo Salento IGT 2022
  • IGT Salento Rosso, Critèra is a Primitivo produced by Schola Sarmenti from (relatively) young vines, less than 15 years old. A wine characterised by sincere aromas, typical of a precious grape, deeply tied to its territory. Grapes harvested by hand and delicately placed in small ventilated boxes to preserve their integrity, vinified with wisdom in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The result is a wine that could be described as 'meaty', of great typicality. A red from the territory with a strong hint of ripe dark fruit, but well supported by a natural freshness. A pleasantly tannic red, with a long, heady finish. It is the right wine if the menu is all about meat. But even away from meals, at a snack with friends, a glass of this Critèra will certainly tastefully accompany a slice of good salami or a piece of tasty cheese.

The protection of the territory, its beauty and riches. Of traditions that originate far back in time. Of the traditional form of bush-training, so laborious to work but capable of giving wines with a unique character. Of the ancient dry stone walls that for centuries have delimited the fields and the vines that sink their roots into the red soil, rich in precious micro-elements. All this is Schola Sarmenti, a beautiful Apulian company founded in 1999. We are in Salento, and more precisely in Nardò. A land of great wines from indigenous grape varieties such as Fiano, Negroamaro, Primitivo and Susumaniello. Ancient varieties, cultivated as in the past, and harvested strictly by hand. Then it is oenological science, dedication and the passion of those who work that do the rest. And it is for all this that today Schola Sarmenti can rightly be considered one of the most interesting realities on the Apulian wine scene.
