The cross of all aspiring sommeliers, the categorisation of German wines is decidedly complicated. Both the terms, some of which are particularly difficult to pronounce, and the logic that takes into account both provenance and the so-called 'weight of the must'. The word Kabinett in the name of this wine indicates that we are dealing with a quality wine, made from perfectly ripe and healthy grapes. Riesling is the most important grape variety in German wine-growing and the fact that the grapes come from the Saar, Ruwer and Mosel valleys is a guarantee of absolute quality. Straw yellow with lovely bright highlights, this white wine has a rich and varied bouquet, with notes of white flowers, lychee, peach and apricot. In the mouth it is pleasantly fine and mineral. The acidity is evident, as is typical for the variety, but not at all annoying and well integrated. A wine that will certainly give great satisfaction to all fans of German wines, excellent as an aperitif and perfect for pairing with spicy Asian soups, curry dishes or, for those seeking a taste closer to our tradition, with smoked fish.
