      "Asili" Barbaresco Riserva DOCG 2020
    • Barbaresco Riserva DOCG Asili, produced by the historic Cantina Produttori del Barbaresco, is a fine expression of Piedmont and its hills, rich in history and tradition. It comes from the Asili Cru, where the Barbaresco hills extend between 350 and 500 metres above sea level. Here, the soil is mainly clayey-calcareous, with sandy veins that give the wine elegance and complexity. The continental climate, with hot summers and cold winters, combined with the autumn mists that envelop the vineyards, creates the perfect conditions for the maturation of Nebbiolo, the main grape variety of this area. After the grapes are harvested by hand and taken to the winery, the must ferments in steel containers at a controlled temperature, with maceration on the skins for about 28 days. This is followed by malolactic fermentation, which softens the wine's acidity, and a long maturation phase in oak barrels for 36 months, followed by a further period of rest in the bottle before being released onto the market. Asili has an intense ruby red colour with garnet reflections. The bouquet is a triumph of ripe red fruit, such as cherry and raspberry, accompanied by floral notes of violet and balsamic and spicy hints of liquorice and pepper. In the mouth it is structured and full-bodied, with present but well-integrated tannins, and a very long finish that leaves its mark. Good even now, this wine has excellent ageing potential. It can be cellared for up to 15 years, waiting to find the ideal pairing. Perfect with red meat, game and mature cheeses such as Castelmagno.

Produttori del Barbaresco is a wine cooperative founded in 1958 in the heart of the Langhe region of Piedmont, in the municipality of Barbaresco. Today, this organisation has over 50 members who cultivate 120 hectares of vineyards dedicated exclusively to the Nebbiolo grape variety, the only variety permitted by the strict regulations. Each member cultivates their vineyards with dedication, passing on the skills necessary to obtain high quality grapes from generation to generation. The families deliver their harvests to the cooperative winery, where they are vinified. The Barbaresco territory is characterised by rolling hills and calcareous-clayey soil, ideal for the cultivation of high quality grapes. The combination of soil, climate and altitude gives the wines an elegant structure and a distinctive aromatic complexity. The winery enhances the different nuances of the territory through the production of Reserves from specific crus, such as Asili, Montefico, Montestefano, Muncagota, Ovello, Pajè, Pora and Rabajà. These wines, produced only in exceptional years, offer enthusiasts a unique experience, allowing them to appreciate the peculiarities of each vineyard.
