  • Sensations A well-structured still red wine with a ruby red colour. Intense aroma, hints of red fruits, cherry and plum and delicate hints of vanilla. Absence of tannins in the mouth, slight acidity, savoury, harmonious. Serve at 18°C.
  • Vinification Crushing and destemming of the grapes, the must undergoes alcoholic fermentation with a maceration period of about 10 days. After racking, the wine matures 8 months in steel vats, followed by bottling where it matures a few months before being put on the market.

    Barbera d'Alba DOC 2021
  • Barbera d'Alba DOC, this red wine from the territory is offered by the fine winery of the Maccagno family. The grapes, having reached full ripeness, are harvested and pruned in the cellar to be sent for processing. The must obtained undergoes alcoholic fermentation, with maceration of the skins lasting about 10/12 days, with frequent pumping over to favour the complete extraction of colour. After racking, the wine matures for a few months in steel vats, before being bottled and undergoing a further ageing period of at least 8 months. In the glass, one discovers a wine characterised by a beautiful, intense ruby red colour with distinct purple reflections. The nose is intense, with hints of red fruits, cherry, plum and delicate hints of vanilla. In the mouth, on the other hand, it reveals itself to be a pleasantly balanced wine, with a perfect correspondence to what was previously perceived. Finally, pleasant is that particular freshness, typical for Barbera. Ideal pairings? Certainly cured meats, stewed meats and medium-aged cheeses.

    Piedmontese by origin, Livio and Corrado Maccagno run the small winery in Canale, the beating heart of the Roero, with passion. Recently renovated, the Maccagno winery processes grapes from the approximately 12 hectares of estate vineyards, most of which are cultivated on the San Michele hill, the most prestigious location in the village. In spite of its small size, the winery boasts an outstanding production that includes some of the region's most prestigious wines, including Arneis, Favorita, Nebbiolo, Barbera and Roero. The concepts of 'Sustainability' and 'Tradition' are intrinsic values of the Maccagno winery. In every operation, in fact, the utmost attention is paid to the environment, in order to protect a landscape that is the very basis of the quality of what is produced.
