      Barbera d'Asti DOCG 2021
    • Tradition and authenticity. Barbera, Piedmont's iconic grape variety, finds one of its best expressions here, the result of a temperate climate, mineral-rich soils and a long history of passion for viticulture. Barbera d'Asti DOC by Frasca La Guaragna comes from grapes grown in the vineyards of Nizza Monferrato, Agliano Terme and Moasca. These municipalities are located in the heart of the Asti region, an area known for its calcareous-clayey soils that give the wines freshness and structure. It is no coincidence that Barbera, which has always been called ‘the wine of the people’ in Piedmont, because of its versatility and its ability to accompany everyday cooking, is able to produce very interesting wines here, which are also protagonists on special occasions. In this case, vinification is geared towards enhancing the varietal characteristics: gentle crushing preserves the primary aromas of the grapes, while long maceration favours the extraction of soft tannins and a fine structure. During fermentation, no punching-down is carried out and the wine is matured in steel, followed by a long rest in the bottle to preserve freshness and aromatic complexity. To the eye, it has a deep colour, combining garnet, ruby and violet hues. The nose is intense and rich, with notes of plum and cherry, enriched by floral nuances of violet and spicy hints of cinnamon, cocoa and leather. In the mouth, the wine is enveloping and dense, with a balanced structure and soft but well-present tannins. The finish is long and persistent, and leaves a feeling of warmth and harmony.

Today we are in the heart of Piedmont, in the rolling hills of Monferrato. Here we find Frasca La Guaragna, a winery born from the Frasca family's dream of producing wines that could capture the soul of the local terroir. This dream took shape when they met the oenologist Matteo Gerbi, originally from Asti, whose wealth of experience gained in prestigious cellars in the Langhe gave life to a clear and ambitious project. Today, Matteo leads a passionate team that follows every stage of the production process, from vineyard care to vinification. Frasca La Guaragna covers 22 hectares of carefully selected vineyards, where each parcel tells a different story of Monferrato, an area rich in biodiversity and oenological history. The company's approach is deeply rooted in respect for the land and people. Each row is cultivated using sustainable methods, enhancing biodiversity and promoting viticulture that protects the natural balance. In the cellar, work focuses on exalting the peculiarities of each vintage, with careful vinification and minimal intervention to let the wine tell its own story.
