The Grignolino d'Asti DOC, presented here by Frasca La Guaragna, tells the story of a little-known grape variety that is nevertheless capable of giving great emotions. Grignolino, an indigenous Piedmontese grape, is both delicate and complex at the same time, cultivated mainly on the hills of the Asti area, where it finds its ideal habitat. Specifically, in this case, the vineyards are located in Agliano Terme, one of the most vocated areas of Monferrato. An area characterised by gentle hills and limestone-clay soils, which give the wines a distinct freshness and minerality. Grignolino is traditionally defined as a ‘rebel vine’ due to its sensitivity to climate and winemaking techniques. A grape that requires great care but which, if cultivated with care, can express a unique elegance and surprising complexity. In the glass, it has a brilliant ruby red colour. On the nose, the bouquet is refined: rose, dried flowers, small berries and light spicy notes. In the mouth, it is pleasantly flowing, with a medium body and a fine tannic texture, balanced by lively acidity. The finish is characterised by a slight bitterness, typical of the variety, which adds to its charm and personality. A wine to be drunk young, it is ideal with light dishes. Delicious with cold meats, hors d'oeuvres, savoury pies and fresh cheeses.
