      "Maicarin" Dolcetto d'Alba DOC 2022
    • The younger son of a region that bases its reputation on the production of great red wines, Dolcetto d'Alba DOC is always a great glass of wine for all occasions. Just like this Maicarin, proposed by Pier Paolo Grasso. A wine that, in its linearity, offers an authentic and engaging experience to all lovers of good wine. Located in the heart of the Langhe, the municipality of Treiso (CN) is situated at an altitude of 250 metres above sea level. This area is renowned for its medium-textured hilly terrain with clayey areas, ideal for growing vines. The Langhe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are famous for their breathtaking landscapes and the production of high quality wines. Dolcetto, in particular, is a native black grape variety, appreciated for its ability to produce fresh and fruity wines. Although the name might suggest a certain sweetness, Dolcetto is actually a dry wine, characterised by delicate tannins and a low acidity. After harvesting, the grapes undergo red wine vinification, followed by a simple refinement in steel tanks. To the eye, ‘Maicarin’ has a bright purple-red colour. On the nose, pleasant floral hints of violet and wisteria emerge, followed by fruity notes of plum and black cherry. Spicy nuances are also perceptible, particularly black pepper and nutmeg. In the mouth it is full and savoury, with well-smoothed tannins and a finish that recalls red fruits and wisteria. This Dolcetto goes well with roast veal and grilled meats. Served slightly chilled, it can also be enjoyed with platters of cold cuts and cheeses, making it versatile for both structured meals and informal aperitifs.

The Pier Paolo Grasso winery is located in Neive, in the province of Cuneo, in the heart of the Langhe, one of the most prestigious areas in Italy for the production of high quality wines. Pier Paolo, founder and current owner, was born into a family with a strong winemaking tradition and from an early age he devoted himself to agriculture and in particular to the cultivation of vines. After gaining solid experience in the sector, he founded his company in 2000. The philosophy is to produce high quality wines that are an expression of the territory and a passion for viticulture. The company is run by Pier Paolo and his wife Sara. Together they form a great team and take care of every detail of production, from the vineyard to the bottle. The range of wines produced includes Barbaresco DOCG La Fenice, Barbaresco DOCG Ca' Grossa and Barbaresco Riserva DOCG Piccola Emma. All produced with quality grapes grown with respect for the environment and tradition.
