  • Vinification On arrival in the cellar, the bunches of grapes were destemmed and then softly pressed; the must was transferred to stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation took place, for about a week. At the end of fermentation, the wine continued to age in French oak barriques for about 18 months.

    Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG 2016
  • Pride of Umbria, Sagrantino di Montefalco is the most popular DOCG among fans of red wines of great character. An incredibly powerful and elegant wine that is only produced in this green corner of Italy. Super selected grapes of 100% Sagrantino, coming only from vineyards owned by Cantina Tudernum. After harvesting, the skins are left to macerate for about three weeks, keeping the temperature always under control. Then we proceed with racking to separate the flower wine from the now exhausted marc. The delicate maturation phase, essential for this wine naturally endowed with great personality, takes place in French oak barriques. A forced stay of at least one year which, together with the one in the bottle before being rleased to market, brings the total refinement of this red wine to about 33 months. Just under 3 years of waiting to taste a glass of this wine, incredibly intense both in the nose and in the mouth. It's a red wine that should undoubtedly be paired with very structured dishes, including game, or very mature cheeses and spicy flavour.

    "... peculiaris est Tudernis", wrote Pliny the Elder in his Natural History, with reference to the wines produced in the area of Todi. And of the quality of those products, the 54 vine-growers who, back in 1958, joined together to create the Tudernum winery, and to enhance the wines of their beautiful land of origin, have shown that they are sure. Today in their catalogue they find place, unique in Umbria, both typical wines of the region, that is Grechetto di Todi DOC and Sagrantino di Montefalco DOCG. In order to keep up with the times, in the last decade the vast majority of the Cantina's infrastructure has been renovated, making it one of the most interesting production facilities in central Italy. The numbers have grown and undoubtedly the target markets have also increased. What has remained unchanged over time is the passion of the winegrowers who bring their grapes to the winery, the meticulousl care put into every process, but above all the passion of every single protagonist of the Tudernum project.
