    "Puro del Duca" Aglianico Campania IGP 2019
  • The name Puro del Duca comes from the location of the vineyard, in Costa del Duca, in the commune of Castelvenere. A pure Aglianico, this wine reveals itself to be pleasantly complex and endowed with great personality. But let's proceed with order. The grapes are harvested towards the end of October or at the beginning of November. Traditional vinification begins with the maceration of the skins, to extract colour and tannins and begin the fermentation phase at a controlled temperature. Generally, it takes about 20 - 25 days for this phase to be completed, at which point, after racking, the wine is put into oak barriques for at least six months. Only then is it ready to meet the bottle, where it continues to age for a few months. A meditation wine, full-bodied and important, this Aglianico has a garnet red colour. Its aromas are intense and complex. They call to mind ripe red fruits, spices and a slight toasted background. In the mouth it is soft, enveloping, structured and balanced. A wine characterised by a high persistence of taste, it has important tannins that require the right combination with red meats, better if grilled.

    Azienda Agricola CantaVitae is located in Marano di Napoli. The winery is run by a young agronomist and oenologist, Michelangelo Schiattarella, a true wine craftsman. The company's vineyards are located in different areas of the region. The fundamental choice, in fact, was to link the grapes to the territory of origin. The Piedirosso and Falanghina varieties come from Campi Flegrei and are used for the production of DOC wines. Aglianico and Falanghina come from Sannio, while Primitivo comes from the Aurunci area, between lower Lazio and the province of Caserta. However, the main focus of activities takes place in the cellar. The white and red wines follow different procedures and timescales. Each bunch of grapes is carefully selected and processed in full respect of the raw material. Each vat is followed and monitored at all stages, so that the wines can reach the delicate stage of refinement at the right time, without stress.
