The name Puro del Duca comes from the location of the vineyard, in Costa del Duca, in the commune of Castelvenere. A pure Aglianico, this wine reveals itself to be pleasantly complex and endowed with great personality. But let's proceed with order. The grapes are harvested towards the end of October or at the beginning of November. Traditional vinification begins with the maceration of the skins, to extract colour and tannins and begin the fermentation phase at a controlled temperature. Generally, it takes about 20 - 25 days for this phase to be completed, at which point, after racking, the wine is put into oak barriques for at least six months. Only then is it ready to meet the bottle, where it continues to age for a few months. A meditation wine, full-bodied and important, this Aglianico has a garnet red colour. Its aromas are intense and complex. They call to mind ripe red fruits, spices and a slight toasted background. In the mouth it is soft, enveloping, structured and balanced. A wine characterised by a high persistence of taste, it has important tannins that require the right combination with red meats, better if grilled.
