      "Ottocentonero" Lambrusco Emilia IGT 2023
    • Lambrusco Ottocentonero from Albinea Canali represents an important part of the history of viticulture in Emilia. Albinea Canali is a cooperative winery founded in 1936 in the heart of Reggio Emilia, born from the vision of Lorenzo Motti and Riziero Camellini. Their goal was to promote local winegrowers and native vines such as Lambrusco and Ancellotta, celebrating the identity of a fertile and generous land. Ottocentonero is considered the flagship of the Albinea Canali range. A bold, sparkling Lambrusco capable of bringing a fruity lightness directly to the heart of those who taste it. After harvesting, the grapes undergo red wine vinification with fermentation at a controlled temperature. The process ends with a second fermentation in an autoclave, which gives the wine its characteristic effervescence. Ottocentonero has a light ruby red colour with violet reflections. On the nose it is characterised by intense and fragrant aromas of blackberries, wild strawberries and Mediterranean scrub, accompanied by notes of undergrowth and a hint of the wild. In the mouth it is pleasantly creamy and soft, with a well-balanced fizziness that enhances the fruity freshness and a velvety body. The finish is full-bodied, leaving a pleasant aftertaste for a few seconds. Ottocentonero is the perfect partner for an infinite variety of dishes. However, the ideal way to ‘kill it’ (as they say in Emilia) is to accompany it with a rich platter of mixed cold cuts, from Parma ham to mortadella. It's excellent with savoury pies and irresistible with ‘grandma's’ lasagne.

Albinea Canali is a fine winery in Emilia. Its story begins in 1934, when Lorenzo Motti and Riziero Camellini had the idea of creating a community of producers that would promote the unique characteristics of the territory south of Reggio Emilia. Starting with an initial group of seven winegrowers, this initiative quickly expanded, leading to the official foundation of the cooperative winery in 1936. The winery is located a few kilometres from Reggio Emilia, in a flat area bordered by the Crostolo and Tresinaro rivers and the foothills of the Apennines. This triangle of land is particularly suitable for viticulture, thanks to the gravelly, well-drained soil and the temperate climate with excellent sun exposure. Here Lambrusco finds ideal conditions to express all its freshness and liveliness. Since the 1930s, Albinea Canali has distinguished itself for its modern and innovative approach. The winery, designed according to the latest criteria for the time, is a perfect example of the fusion of aesthetics and functionality. Even today, thanks to constant technological updating, the company is committed to preserving the quality of the selected grapes through careful processing techniques that respect the raw material.
