      Bonarda Secco Frizzante DOC 2023
    • This Colli Piacentini DOC sparkling wine from Cantina Campana is made from Croatina grapes, locally known as Bonarda. A real "must" for the many fans of the territory and good traditional cuisine. Excellent with cured meats and cheeses served as an aperitif or hors d'oeuvre, this Bonarda is simply fabulous when paired with red meat dishes, whether cooked on the grill or stewed. For a tasty pairing, however, the suggestion is to serve it with the classic breaded schnitzel or with the bread patties that were traditionally made from the leftover breadcrumbs. Intense and impenetrable ruby red, this wine surprises with its violet hues in the glass. The nose is dominated by typical notes of fresh fruit, especially cherries. In the mouth it is balanced and decidedly fruity, with hints of red and dark fruit. Pleasantly fresh, this red wine has subtle and ripe tannins.

Cantine Campana was established in 1972 as a small family-run business. The real leap in quality, however, came in 2010 when, thanks to a project financed by the Emilia-Romagna Region and the European Union, the winery was able to expand its plant to improve the control of production processes and the quality of finished products. Located at the junction between the Val d'Arda and Val Chero, the winery can now count on an annual production of around one million bottles, 80% of which are registered in the main DOC wines of Piacenza tradition. And so wines such as Gutturnio, Barbera, Bonarda, Ortrugo, Malvasia Aromatica di Candia and Monterosso Val d'Arda, in different variants, from sparkling to still.
