Very fruity with just a hint of sweetness. Full body, a good bead of bubbles and a dark berry finish. Nice bitter end with some tannic tension. Drink now.
With Otello, Nero di Lambrusco, Emilia IGT, Cantine Ceci reaches levels that are hard to imagine. We are talking about a Lambrusco that many critics and experts consider the winery's masterpiece. An enveloping Lambrusco. An unmistakable colour and aroma. It is no coincidence that this wine is dedicated to the founder of the winery. Intense ruby red, with a rich, lively and persistent mousse, this Lambrusco has aromas of rare intensity. The fruity notes are reminiscent of cherries and berries, such as blackberries and strawberries. On the finish, then, the floral hints of violets become more and more intense and easy to perceive. In the mouth it is satisfying. It has a pleasant balance between softness, freshness, flavour and a good tannic texture. Otello is a wine that can play with countless combinations. Simply ideal with traditional regional cured meats, it can also be paired with a tasty, well-mixed risotto.
If you search the Ceci company website on the Internet, you may be surprised to discover that the company's domain, its address, does not refer to the company. But to the product that more than any other represents it: lambrusco.it! After all, this is not too surprising. In 1938, in fact, grandfather Otello Ceci ran one of the most famous taverns in the Parma lowlands. Here, while enjoying traditional dishes, diners would taste the renowned Lambrusco that grandfather Ceci produced with grapes from local producers. Years later, his sons, Bruno and Giovanni, realised that this Lambrusco really deserved its success and, during the roaring '60s, transformed the osteria into a winery. Today, years later, it is the grandchildren, Alessandro, Maria Teresa, Maria Paola, Elisa and Chiara who run the business. A family business in spirit, but one that exports all over the world.
