This sparkling red wine, typical of Campania tradition, is distinguished by its lively freshness and fruity character. Characteristics that make it particularly pleasant and easy to drink. We are talking about a Gragnano della Penisola Sorrentina DOC, proposed here by the Azienda Agricola Bosco de' Medici. It comes from vineyards located on gentle hills, between 230 and 250 metres above sea level. The volcanic-sandy soil, rich in minerals, gives the wines of this area a unique flavour and great freshness. The complex blend includes Piedirosso (50%), Sciascinoso (20%), Suppezza (10%), Aglianico (10%) and Castagnara (10%). Piedirosso, in particular, is known for its floral and fruity aromas. The other grape varieties, for their part, contribute to the wine's complexity and structure. After the harvest, which is carried out manually to ensure the selection of the best grapes, the vinification process involves a maceration of about 5 days. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature that preserves the delicate aromas of fruit and flowers. Its slight fizz is obtained naturally during the fermentation process, without altering its natural varietal expression. Ruby red in colour with violet hues, emphasising its youth and freshness, the nose reveals a delicate bouquet of violets and red fruits such as cherry and raspberry, which combine with slightly floral notes. In the mouth, it is a fresh and sparkling wine with light tannins that add a pleasant structure. The sip is characterised by a pleasant fruitiness that makes it immediately recognisable. It goes well with traditional Campania dishes and is simply the ideal accompaniment to a Neapolitan pizza, especially the classic margherita.
The Azienda Agricola Bosco De' Medici was born from the fortunate meeting of two families, Palomba and Monaco. A project handed down from generation to generation. Founded in 1996 by Gaetano Palomba and Franco Monaco, this company has deep roots dating back to the 1970s, when grandfather Raffaele, moved by a genuine passion for the land and viticulture, bought the first vineyard on Vesuvius. Today, the company is located within the Vesuvius National Park, a privileged position, immersed in a breathtaking landscape that embraces the Gulf of Naples as far as the Sorrento Coast. The vineyards, facing south and south-east at an altitude between 250 and 300 metres above sea level, benefit from a perfect combination of climatic and environmental factors. In the countryside, only indigenous varieties, representative of the territory, are grown. From Piedirosso to Aglianico, from Caprettone to Falanghina. A strict organic protocol is followed and the vines, some of which are over 100 years old, produce grapes of the highest quality.
