"C’era una volta" Sangue di Giuda dell' Oltrepò Pavese Dolce Frizzante 2024
    • Legend has it that Judas, repentant of his betrayal of Jesus, was resurrected after his death, who knows why, in Broni, in Oltrepò. On recognizing him, the inhabitants tried to kill him. But Judas was able to make up for it again by healing the diseased vines. And so, in gratitude, a wine was dedicated to him. Just legends, of course. But nice to tell your friends before you open a bottle like this. Losito & Guarini's Sangue di Giuda comes from a blend of Croatina, Barbera, Uva Rara and Nespolina grapes, all typical varieties of the area. The vinification is accurate and does not involve the use of wood for aging. The result is a wine characterized by a beautiful deep ruby colour, with purple reflections and covered by a compact and persistent foam. The nose is intense, persistent and richly fruity, with notes of raspberry jam, blueberry, blackberry and hints of violet. In the mouth it is sweet but fresh. A lovely velvety red that goes well with tarts or delicately herbed cheeses.

The story of Losito Guarini is a beautiful Italian story. It began back in 1910 when a very young Domenico Losito left Trani in search of fortune. He arrived in Seveso, north of Milan, where a few years later he opened a tavern. It sells, of course, wine by the glass, in this case served in the typical "scudela", accompanied by the specialties cooked by his wife. From one goal to the next, Domenico's business grows and prospers, and from the initial tavern it becomes a small company that combines the restaurant with the activity of selling wine at home. And so we reach 1968, when Luisa, Domenico's granddaughter and Michele's daughter, marries Mr. Guarini, also of Apulian origin, who sold wine wholesale in Como. At that point Losito Guarini is ready to make the great leap in quality, thanks to the construction of new and more modern bottling plants. In the nineties, finally, the new generations were involved in the family business, represented by Davide and Renato, and a new branch was opened in Oltrepò. Today Losito Guarini produces about 25 million bottles a year, obtaining numerous awards from national and international wine and food critics.
