      "Pètris" Malvasia Collio DOC 2023
    • Pètris represents the exaltation of an ancient and fascinating grape variety, Malvasia, cultivated in an area as vocated as Collio. Its history is an interweaving of different cultures and traditions, and Venica & Venica cultivates it with respect and dedication, preserving its unique characteristics and enhancing its deep bond with the land. The company's vineyards enjoy unique conditions, with a cool, breezy climate, sun-kissed hillsides and mineral-rich soils. This unique terroir gives Pètris its characteristic minerality and flavour, making it a complex and harmonious wine. The grapes, harvested by hand at the right degree of ripeness, are left to macerate for about 20 hours at a controlled temperature. Part of the wine matures in large wooden barrels, giving it complexity and structure, while the remainder matures in stainless steel to preserve the freshness and liveliness of the aromas. In the glass, it has a brilliant golden yellow colour that anticipates a rich and inviting bouquet. On the nose, apricot aromas blend with notes of aromatic herbs such as sage and thyme, creating a complex, Mediterranean harmony. In the mouth, the wine captivates with its mineral savouriness and fruity notes of apricot and citrus fruits. The long aromatic persistence gives an elegant and satisfying finish. Pètris is a 'seafood' wine par excellence. It enhances the flavours of fried fish, grilled sardines and sardines, tuna steaks, risotto alla pescatora and baked fish dishes.

Four generations of passion for wine, in the heart of Collio Goriziano. This is Venica & Venica. We are located just a few kilometres from the Slovenian border where, for almost a century, winemaking has been an art handed down from generation to generation. Since its founding in 1930, the Venica family has in fact cultivated the vineyards with love and dedication, enhancing their peculiarities and creating wines that encapsulate the essence of Collio. The climate here is cool-temperate, mitigated by sea breezes and protected by the Julian Alps. The soils are marly-calcareous, rich in minerals, and create an ideal terroir for growing white grapes. In particular, Ribolla Gialla, the undisputed queen of the area, which expresses itself here with elegance and finesse, offering floral and fruity notes. Then there is Malvasia Istriana, Verduzzo and, of course, Friulano. There are also the typical international varieties, such as Chardonnay, Pinot, Bianco and Grigio, and the aromatic Traminer and Sauvignon Blanc. In the countryside, Venica & Venica practices environmentally friendly viticulture. In fact, the company is committed to sustainable vineyard management, using innovative agronomic techniques and limiting environmental impact to a minimum.
