"Merus" Müller Thurgau Alto Adige DOC 2023
    • It is called Merus and it is a pure Müller Thurgau proposed by Tiefenbrunner. Merus is a line of wines distinguished by its focus on naturalness and the authentic expression of the grape variety. This is suggested by the Latin term ‘merus,’ which means ‘pure, without addition.’ This Müller Thurgau originates in South Tyrol, in the Bassa Atesina, an area characterised by moraine soils rich in limestone gravel. The climate of the area, with large temperature fluctuations between day and night, is ideal for keeping the aromatic notes of the grapes alive and fresh. This Alpine-Mediterranean climate, combined with the composition of the soil, contributes to wines with well-balanced acidity and intense aromas. Müller Thurgau is a white grape variety originating in Germany, obtained from a cross between Riesling and Madeleine Royale. In South Tyrol, this grape variety finds a perfect environment to develop all its aromaticity and freshness, resulting in a delicate but lively wine. In this case, the grapes are harvested by hand and vinified in cement and stainless steel barrels, preserving the freshness and integrity of the aromas. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 20 °C for about ten days, followed by a four-month maturation on fine lees, giving the wine greater complexity and a soft texture, without altering its vivacity and freshness. In the glass, the colour varies from pale greenish to light yellow. Hints of wild herbs, fresh grass and a slight hint of nutmeg emerge on the nose. In the mouth, the acidity is well balanced, giving the wine a lively and dynamic body, with an elegant, enveloping finish. This Müller Thurgau is a wine that wins you over with its balance of freshness and structure. Perfect as an aperitif, it also goes well with light dishes: delicate first courses, freshwater fish and fresh cheeses.
