"Molino a Vento" Inzolia Terre Siciliane IGP 2023
  • Let's start with the grape variety. Inzolia, used purely in this pleasant white, is one of the oldest and most widespread varieties in Sicily. A great classic of the region that enjoys a "democratic" success, that is, it is equally appreciated by great experts and simple enthusiasts. Tenute Orestiadi proposes it in a contemporary guise with its Molino a Vento, Terre Siciliane IGP. The grapes, which come from vineyards characterized by black soil, excellent exposure and an altitude of about 200 metres above sea level, are harvested when fully ripe and softly pressed before being sent to the fermentation phase, which takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel containers. The same material is used for the quick refinement of about 3 months followed by at least 2 months in the bottle to give the wine time to reach its balance. The result is a white characterized by a beautiful straw yellow colour, with intense aromas ranging from notes of fresh fruit, especially green apple, to acacia flowers. In the mouth it is well structured, characterized by a fresh and savoury taste, with a long and persistent finish. Let's put it to the test with an all fish menu, perhaps starting with a nice risotto alla marinara and then continuing with a slice of grilled swordfish. Incredibly good.

Tenute Orestiadi was founded in 2008. Located in Sicily. And to be precise in that enchanted corner marked by a long and troubled history as the Valle del Belice. Here in 1968 a terrible earthquake devastated everything, razing centuries of civilization and dreams to the ground. From the ashes of that terrible episode, in Gibellina, in a corner of Sicily where viticulture meets art, the Orestiadi Estates are found. A mosaic of vineyards of great beauty characterized by completely different terroirs, with rich and varied characteristics. Here the best native varieties of the island grow and thrive, enhanced by careful processing, to bring to the main world markets all the good things of Sicily. In 2018, thanks to a close sharing of values, and the same love for the territory, a collaboration with La Gelsomina, an interesting reality on Etna, began.
