    Chenin Blanc 2023
  • Lovers of fresh, indeed very fresh, wines, you really should not miss this bottle. What Simonsig offers here, in fact, is a pure Chenin Blanc. An organic and vegan wine, this white is produced in the Stellenbosch area on the ocean coast of South Africa. Here the Chenin clusters manage to reach perfect ripeness, thanks to a clay soil and a climate mitigated by sea currents. We are about 200 meters above sea level, and here Chenin Blanc reaches distinctly high peaks of quality. White, fresh and young, this wine is made from selected, hand-picked grapes. In the winery they are immediately crushed and some batches are left in contact with the skins overnight. The must is then cold-stabilized, to achieve brilliant clarity, and inoculated with selected yeast strains that are perfect for yielding very fruity wines. The result is a wine characterized by a beautiful clear, bright color with a greenish tinge. The nose is a veritable explosion of tropical fruit aromas, from melon to passion fruit. Then pear and lime. In the mouth it is pleasantly fresh and well-structured, and offers a perfect correspondence to what was perceived earlier. From aperitifs to raw fish, but also vegetable pies and fresh cheeses.

Founded in 1688 by Frenchman Jacques Malan, Simonsig has always stood out in South Africa's rich landscape of wineries. Indeed, thanks to the family's incomparable winemaking experience and tradition, Simonsig-branded wines have always been considered benchmarks for the region, often proving to be innovative. When people talk about Simonsig, they also talk about the history of Méthode Cap Classique, which is the South African classic method first produced by the Stellenbosch winery itself. The year was 1971.
