Famiglia Pagano, Via Carazita 1 - 83040 Luogosano (AV)
Famiglia Pagano's Lacryma Christi DOP is a structured, aged white wine, produced from Falanghina and Caprettone grapes from vineyards located in the Vesuvius National Park area. While Falanghina certainly needs no introduction, being one of Campania's most appreciated indigenous grapes in the world, known for its elegance and ability to produce fragrant and aromatic wines, Caprettone represents a small 'gem'. An indigenous grape variety, it gives the wine structure and softness. The grapes come from vineyards in the Vesuvius National Park area, a hilly zone characterised by a temperate Mediterranean climate. Here the soil is volcanic, rich in minerals and well drained. In the glass it has a beautiful pale straw yellow colour. The nose reveals intense aromas of white flowers such as broom and hawthorn, accompanied by fruity notes of yellow peach and pear. In the mouth, the wine is warm and smooth, with a good structure and a lingering finish. A full-bodied but never excessive wine, it can also be paired with tasty fish dishes and mature cheeses.
The Famiglia Pagano winery was founded in the mid-twentieth century in Boscoreale, on the slopes of Vesuvius, from the passion of Andrea. His tenacity and love for the land drove him to cultivate fine grapes in an area dominated at the time by the production of PDO tomatoes. Thirty years later, Andrea, supported by his wife Raffaella, transformed his passion into a full-fledged winemaking business. Once again, a courageous and countercultural choice that proves to be a winner. Today, the family tradition is carried on by the new generations, with Ludovica, a doctor in oenology, and Andrea Jr., the founder's grandson, who decide to transfer the business to Luogosano, in the province of Avellino, the beating heart of Taurasi production. 36 hectares of vineyards in Avellino, Benevento, Naples and Salerno, tended with care and dedication. In particular, biodiversity and the ecosystem are preserved through the use of sustainable cultivation techniques, which guarantee grapes of the highest quality. The winery, located in a privileged position among the vineyards, is a perfect blend of modernity and tradition. Advanced winemaking technologies are harmoniously integrated with ancient production techniques, resulting in unique and refined wines.
