Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona Località Molinello, 53024 Montalcino SI - Italia
The younger brother of the very noble Brunello, this Rosso di Montalcino DOC signed by Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona originates from vineyards located between 240 and 360 metres above sea level. Soils of medium texture and marl, of Eocene origin, perfect for the maturation of Sangiovese, the only variety that makes up this Rosso DOC. Carefully selected grapes, this wine is distinguished by its elegance and strong character. Vinification in stainless steel and vitrified cement vats, at a controlled temperature, followed by ageing in Slavonian oak barrels of 20 to 75 hectolitres, giving the wine complexity and harmony. Ruby red, intense and luminous, approaching the glass to the nose one is surprised by the breadth and persistence of the bouquet, where notes of fresh red berries such as cherries, raspberries and wild strawberries stand out. Then floral hints of violets and lovely spicy hints reminiscent of black pepper and nutmeg. In the mouth it is warm, enveloping and structured, with a lively acidity that lends freshness and harmony. The tannins, although present, are well integrated and give the finished wine a pleasant persistence. Try it with: Tuscan soups, first courses with meat sauces, cured meats and medium-aged cheeses.
We are in the heart of the beautiful Tuscan hills. Here, the Azienda Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona has around 200 hectares of property, 35 of which are dedicated to vineyards and 40 to olive groves. This marvellous estate embodies the very essence of the Montalcino territory, where land and history come together in an indissoluble union. The beating heart of the estate is a magnificent palace dating back to the 17th century. Within the centuries-old walls of this splendid building are the cellars, where the best Brunello crus rest. The constant search for quality guides every stage of the production process, imposing assiduous and careful control that begins from the moment the grapes arrive in the cellar. Every detail is attended to with the utmost precision to ensure the creation of a Brunello di Montalcino of extraordinary complexity and character.
