Pinot Bianco "Schulthauser" Alto Adige DOC 2023
    • Schulthauser, the Pinot Bianco offered here by the cooperative winery of San Michele Appiano, belongs to the winery's Selezione line. Wines from selected vineyards that are ambassadors of their terroir and uniquely reflect the strengths of the small vineyards. Pinot Bianco, in particular, has been perfectly adapted to Alto Adige for many years. This is precisely why it was chosen as the basis for one of the winery's most important white wines. It has been produced since 1982 and is made from the best grapes, selected and harvested by hand. The largest quantity, about 85% of the wine, is fermented in steel vats, while the remaining part is processed in wooden barrels and also undergoes the so-called malolactic fermentation. The two wines obtained are then blended in February, before being bottled. Straw yellow with green reflections, the nose has clear memories of apple, apricot and pear. In the mouth, however, it is intense and balanced, with a pleasant creaminess and a great aromatic persistence. A typical aperitif wine, and for the summer, it is versatile and can accompany various dishes with satisfaction. Excellent with seafood.

About 2 million bottles per year. Very high average quality. Around 350 members. These are the numbers, and the facts, that characterise the fine cooperative winery in San Michele Appiano. Founded in 1907 by a few visionary winegrowers, it is now one of the most solid wineries in Northern Italy, with wines that have won awards all over the world. If you think of Alto Adige and its good varietals, San Michele Appiano is a must. Its production, in fact, is dominated by wines made from the typical grapes of the region, from Gewürztraminer to Müller Thurgau. From Sauvignon to Riesling. From Pinot Bianco to Lagrein. All mountain grapes that grow thanks to the mild climate and the unique soils of the vineyards. Today the winery can count on around 400 hectares of vineyards. An enormous area, if one considers the Alto Adige region, but small in absolute terms. Especially when one considers the number of members of the winery. In vineyard management, a team of technicians and agronomists is constantly at the side of each member, offering valuable advice on how to manage their rows. The result is grapes of the highest quality, which are then processed in the winery using the most innovative winemaking techniques to bring out every nuance. Welcome to Alto Adige.
