It is easy to fall into the error of thinking that Piedmont is a region where only red wines are produced. In reality, there are many whites, and even sparkling wines, that today come to life in the region and that in recent years are rightly carving out their place among the best Italian wines. A nice example is this Roero Arneis DOCG Spumante Brut, proposed by the Cascina Boschetti Gomba Winery. The result of careful vinification of Arneis grapes, harvested slightly in advance to preserve their natural acidity, the wine is carbonated in an autoclave and then left to rest on its lees for a period of at least two months before bottling. This technique gives it a distinct personality and a pleasant aromatic complexity. An unusual bubbly to be uncorked without hesitation during the next aperitif.
